Fabric Guide

Know Your Fabric

For Al-Khizānah, modesty is something we take seriously, and opacity is a big part of that.

We know many of you also want lightweight, breathable fabrics and a real choice of colors. Sometimes, achieving that softness and variety can slightly affect how opaque a fabric is. So we commit to always testing our fabrics, and to telling you exactly what we find.

Every fabric is checked by hand against natural light before it earns a place in our catalog. Most of what you'll find here doesn't show any silhouette in everyday natural light, for most garments, that only changes under strong direct backlight. For fabrics and lighter colors that are more sensitive to light, we recommend wearing a layer underneath, and we always let you know when that's the case, so you always know exactly what you're getting before you buy.

Below, you'll find how we classify every fabric in our catalog. Each product page will point you here, so you always know exactly what you're wearing.

Ratings below apply to each fabric type as a whole. While a fabric may be classified as Fully Opaque or Opaque in Natural Light, lighter shades within that same fabric can be more sensitive to light and may not offer the exact same level of opacity.
